A half-dozen LeadsRx employees that work out of the Portland headquarters volunteered at the Neighborhood House in Southwest Portland in early March as the LeadsRx quarterly Community Impact Program event.
The team unloaded a truck load of donations from the Oregon Food Bank, unboxed and sorted canned and dry goods and filled pantry shelves, and placed fresh produce and refrigerated goods in the pantry’s coolers.
They also helped load a van and a smaller team followed behind to help unload the bi-weekly delivery to a related food pantry the Neighborhood House supports as part of its system to combat food insecurity.
Neighborhood House is the largest food pantry program on Portland’s west side, serving over 1,400 individuals each month to meet this most basic of needs. Its healthy ingredients, provided by its generous supporters, provide people the means to focus on other necessities in their lives, such as finding gainful employment to pay the rent or improving careers for long-term advancement.
Families may receive two food boxes per month. A food box contains healthful food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (as available) and is intended to supply families with ingredients for 3-5 days. Thanks to the generous community, most boxes have enough for 5-8 days.
